Switzerland and France trip Advice needed

This summer we are flying into Geneva and will be flying out of Nice after 11 days in the area. I would love to go to Zermatt for at least three days if possible but cannot seem to find the best train route and something that won't take all day.
Would it be best to go Zermatt to Turin, then connect in Turin to go to Nice? We are traveling with two kids so a train ride of about 5-6 hours is probably my max tolerated.
Another thought would be skip Zermatt , go to Chamoix and then to Nice.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!!!!
