Swiss Half Fare Card

Please I need advice

I am trying to buy the Half Fare Card online. But I read somewhere you can choose to get it mailed to you within 3 working days. But now when I try to book it, I see something about 7 working days. Will I receive it within 3 working days if I pay now? Does anybody know? We are arriving in Switzerland on Thursday.

The SBB site gives me the option to choose an online ticket, but then I am still asked for a postal delivery address.

Or should I rather buy it when we arrive on Thursday? We are arriving at 10 pm at Zurich Airport - can we buy the Half Fare Cards and get the Family Cards late at night at a ticket machine at the airport?

Your help would be much appreciated.

The Zurich airport railway station ticket counters close at 10.30pm. Where will you sleep? If you sleep around Zurich airport you can just buy a normal tram ticket to your destination and buy the Half Fare Card plus Family Card the following morning (from 6.15am).

Thank you very much.

I have now booked it and hope to receive it within 3 working days as a reputable Swiss travel website states will be the case.

Will let you know. Thank you for the info. I appreciate it!

What are your total travel plans -sometimes the Swiss Transfer ticket + Half-FareCard at 50% odff with it - is a better deal or if a lot of travel maybe a Swiss Pass or if just in Lucerne/Interlaken area the Berner Oberland Pass or only in the Jungfrau Region the Jungfraubahn Pass?

Perhaps you have researched all of these already if not...

For lots on Swiss trains and passes, etc check www.swisstravelsystem.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

Rather than risk the mail just buy the card at the first train station you want to start at- probably next day like neckervd suggests. And one person could dash thru Immigration leaving the other to wait for baggage and snag the two passes (passports required however)

Oops posting the same time - did not know you already bought it - but maybe others will benefit...

Many thing only Half-Fare Pass when the Swiss Transfer Ticket +1/2 off Half-Fare Pass is often a better deal -depending of course on where you are going from your entry point (gives a 100% covered ticket from any airport or border train station to any place in Switzerland and then a ticket from that one place to any border or airport in Switzerland. Can use on any train, bus, etc -and in between each first and last trip you get 50% off everything just like the Half-Fare Card.

Does your Half-Fare Card have to be validated once in Switzerland or will it come already validated - if not you will have to go to the train station ticket window anyway.

Assume it will be validated but check on that and of course to buy an ticket you will also have to go to the ticket window first unless you buy online if possible for a half-price ticket which I assume is possible.
