Sundays in Puglia

At the end of May and early June, I will be staying outside of Ostuni and near Andria on two Sundays during our 2 weeks in Puglia. Will all shops, sights, and museums be closed?

I wouldn't say "never". Public museums and archaeological sites are virtually alway open on Sundays, but some private ones many be closed.

Sunday is a big day for visitors. It's the only day many people have off, and it would be a real shame if museums were all closed.

Shops are mostly closed on Sundays, unless they're in tourist areas, in which case some will be open.

Thank you for your responses. I can continue planning and check on individual sights.

bvlenci - would shops in tourist areas of Rome be open on Sundays?

Mondays are usually a worse day for shops and museums to be closed than Sundays but IME, in very touristy places the day of the week rarely makes any difference to shops and restaurants.

if there is something specific that you want to see or do, it's always worth checking opening hours. The internet is very good for that, i find.

From Andria, Sunday is a good day to go to Castel del Monte, and then to have lunch in a restaurant that attracts many local families.

Where are you staying in or near Andria?

I called Antichi Sapori and the woman who answered didn't speak English and hung up. Then I emailed Lama di Luna and they found that the restaurant will be closed all three nights that we are there. So we are going for lunch one day. I assume it will be a very big lunch and am wondering what we will do for dinner that night. I expect that we won't want a full meal. We should probably go to Castel del Monte that morning.

I just realized that we are arriving on Sunday from Matera (so not a full Sunday near Andria). Do you think the bakeries will be open in Altmura?
