(My posting yesterday apparently did not get through to the board. Let me try again.) In October, our only full day in Amsterdam will be a Sunday. We would like to purchase something for a newborn who has Dutch ancestry. We don't want a kitchy souvenir, but we cannot spend huge cash. Will some stores be open on Sunday in Amsterdam? Where and approximate hours?
Many thanks.
Sunday shopping in Amsterdam?

if all else fails, there's shopping at Schiphol airport.
see yesterday's thread which received a couple suggestions (i just 'topped' it for you)
Be aware that purchases of 25 EU or less, should be paid in cash in Amsterdam. They don't readily accept credit cards for small sales.
I don't know if stores are open, but I'll bet they are. Maybe try the museum stores for nice keepsake items? Lots of gift shops in that nice neighborhood, too.
I gave you a link to a list of shops for kids, including one that sounds perfect.
