Sunday drive riviera to St Remy Provence. where to stop? +monday plans
Hello All,
Just finalising the finer details of our driving trip, and I am stuck with plans to make the most of our Sundays and Mondays, given that so many places usually shut up shop.
One Sunday after a (hopefully) nice breakfast, we need to drive from Menton to St Remy de Provence (for our next 3 night stay), and we also need a 'smart' Monday plan for the next day.
For the sunday, I like the sound of villefranche sur mer, cap du ferrat, villa ephrussi de rothchild, possibly Vence and st paul (though my reading says its too touristy?), breathtaking scenery of coastal villages/coastlines, and possibly taking in some art (Picasso, matisse, chagal, van gogh or Renoir) and there are so many possible art galleries around its a bit confusing to know which are worth the effort. As much as I like the sound of Nice, it seems like too much of a big place and hassle to drive into for a short stop.
Does anyone have a suggested driving itinerary that might include some of these things that are good for a pleasant sunday drive? I love the sound of Aix, thus I thought this is best saved for a day trip from St Remy mid week when all is open.
Also- what are some good ideas for our first full day/ a Monday based in St Remy de provence? I was hoping not to drive around to little ghost towns cause everything is closed. are there any nearby Monday markets? For context, after St Remy we have 4 nights in St Saturnin de apt for lavender fields and little villages.
(as an aside, any fave restaurant recommendations around provence)
thanks in advance.

Les Baux is not too far; leave Pont du Gard/Avignon, Arles/Aix for other days (but you dont have too many!) Gordes is not far, and a wonderful short drive east from St. R. Enjoy St. Remy, we loved being based there for 4 nights.

Cimiez above Nice also has acclaimed art museums and some Roman ruins.
It's a long drive with little time to stop much.

>>Aix...Sunday will be fine there for a few hours.<<
Aix is my wife's favorite shopping city in the south of France. On Sunday, almost 100% of the shops she enjoys are closed. Chain stores like Gap & Monoprix will be open, however.
