Dear readers,
I am planning this summer vacation with my parents to italy. As part of it we will be coming to naples and I reserved one day to visit Pompei. and I have one more complete day free. As this is my first trip to Italy I would like to ask you people who are experienced to suggest the best place to visit on that day. We are indians and I am working in Germany and we love more beautiful scenes and fun love kind not of too historic lovers of museums etc.. So please post your suggestions. Thank you in advance.
Thanks,
Kumar.

If you are staying Napoli, you might find enjoy a boat to visit the island of Capri. That way, you won't have to deal with traffic jams on buses.
When you go to Pompeii, go as early as you can in the morning, take sun hats and lots of water. It can be extremely hot in Pompeii.

There's a list of museums/sites on the Campania Arte Card. You can click on each one for hours/transport info.

Thank you all for your suggestions. So you suggest the visit to Capri would be the best among all available choices. I also thought so as my parents are seniors they cant walk too much so boat ride and have some sun bath coud be the best idea.
Thanks,

I know you said that going to museums is not the top of your list, but the archeological museum in Naples has many of the treasures from Pompeii -- beautiful mosaics -- for safety.
If you don't want to go to museums, there is a beautiful garden in Napoli that is part of the church of Santa Chiara that is covered in painted tiles

Nearby there is a street in Naples that is very famous for making Christmas dolls, which is an old tradition in the city.

Also in that ares is a tiny church with very unusual and beautiful statues that only take a moment to see. It is called the Cappella San Severo.
Napoli is famous for both its pizza and its pastries. I'm sure your guidebook will have recommendations, and you should take time especially to sit in a historic caffe and try some pastries.

I would normally suggest that it is worth walking through the set of streets known as Spaccanapoli, this includes some of the areas mentioned by Zeppole, and includes many churches, monumuments, coffee shops, sellers of "Crib Scenes" etc. In this case I might not as the roads can get crowded, they are cobbled and may not be the easiest for elderly people.
The Archaeological museum has been mentioned, and in my opinion, this is a "must see" if you are also visiting Pompei or Herculaneum. Many of the original artifacts and mosaics are on display.
If you have a Giranapoli card (widely available), you can use it on buses, trams and the funicular railways. The latter are a good way of getting up onto the hills. The views from Castel St Elmo on a clear day are stunning.

I firmly believe that everyone that visits Naples should get on a public bus and take a ride to Via Petrarc, then get off the bus and sit on a bench by the railing for an extended time and just soak in the most marvelous view on earth, that being the Bay of Naples with the city laid out before you, with Vesuvius in the background. I've gone there many times, and each time is like the first time to me. It really takes my breath away.
