Hello all we are going to be traveling from Andalucia for a road trip in December prior to heading to the French Alps for Jan/Feb. I thought we could try to experience Christmas markets and ambience as well as visit places I have never been and might avoid in the summer tourist season. I have never been to Italy and would like to take my kids to Florence at the very least. We do not want to rush around but have a rental car and about 3 weeks at our disposal. I had thought of traveling through Italy and then spending Christmas in Prague before heading back to the French Alps. Hardly on the way I know but have heard Prague is so beautiful at Christmas time. I am also reading here that German towns do lovely Christmas markets too. Is New Years Eve something we should plan to celebrate somewhere particular? Should we plan to stop in Austria? And the French Riviera? Am I being unrealistic to go as far as Prague?
We do have to stop in either Torino or in Frankfurt on our way through to put bikes in storage. If all options are open where would you suggest we go? Two teens, small dog, mum and dad. I know the days will be short and the general advice is to head to cities for things to do in inclement weather. We generally stay in self-catering apartments. Love to hear your thoughts!
