Suggestions for skiing in Europe this January???

We are a family of experienced and advanced skiiers including an 11 year old. We have skied Whistler alot, the Dolomites last year (which was outstanding) and am looking for suggestions on somewhere in Europe that is not too touristy, a bit funky, has good challenging slopes and not wildly expensive??? Is there such a place???? All suggestions will be most gratefully received?? Auss

Here's a listing of places in Central Switzerland.

There's a lot of spots which are not too expensive. Certainly there's a few expensive places too but overall Central Switzerland is reasonable.

This is the third time I am trying to post here.

Ischgl or St anton in austria are great places and usually a lot cheaper than switzerland.

We were in Salzburg between Christmas and New Years last year and our son and son-in-law enjoyed the skiing in that area. Salzburg has a fantastic ski bus system that goes to a different place each day--Kitzbuhl on Monday, etc. go to www.2salzburg.info/offers_3545.htm to learn about their snow shuttles. Kids said skiing was better there than around Innsbruck and Garmisch where we went the preceding year. Enjoy.

Oh, and not to highjack your thread or anything, but if anyone know which is the nearest good skiing to Florence or Rome, I'd appreciate that info. We're going there for NYear this year and the guys would like to ski again. Expect it might be out of the question, but if there's something I'm overlooking, I'd like to check it out. Thanks.

I have a friend who lives in Florence and she goes to the Dolomites each year. I'm sure it's the same for Rome.
