Dear all,
Dear all,
I will travel to Greece with my husband in late May.
Our original plan is landing at Santorini at 6:15am in 17th May, and catch the 17:30 flight back to Athens in 22nd May. So basically, we have 4 full days plus 2 half-day.
At beginning, I thought it is less hassel way to experience Santorini and relax my husband's tense built from stressful work in China (us, "hardworking" Chinese) just by lying down on the beach. Due to insufficient research, I just notice Santorini is not blessed with wonderful beach.
So, should I change my departure date in Santorini and pay a brief visit to Mykonos? Or just do a small trip to islands such as Ios nearby Santorini?
I really need to clear my thoughts, and your valuable inputs will help me out. Huge thanks in advance!

Hi
I assume you picked Santorini for the fabulous views. If your budget allows it pick a hotel with caldera view, a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi. eg. Andronis Luxury Suites - http://www.andronis-suites.com or Anastatis Apartments - http://www.anastasisapartments.com/santorini-suites.htm. Great way to chillax if you can afford it!

Thanks a lot, worldinabag.
You are absolutely right, fabulous views in Santorini is biggest attraction to us. I am just thinking it will be perfect if we can spend some lazy time in sand and beach.
We don't have many budgets, but I wish we can find a nice and inexpensive accommodation with good view and swimming pool.
BTW, do you think it is doable to make a small trip to nearby islands around Santorini (although, no many options)
Thanks again!

OK if you're after good beaches, inexpensive accommodation and a pool try the island of Paros. We stayed at the Sunset View - http://www.sunsetview-paros.com - and can highly recommend it. Ask for a sea view room overlooking the pool. From Paros you have easy day trips to the islands of Antiparos and Delos. Hope this helps.

Do NOT change your plan now. You do NOT have enough time to be thinking about visiting more than one island in such a short amount of time.
If you want to relax, then relax on Santorini. Santorini does have perfectly good beaches. http://www.visitgreece.gr/en/sea/bea...torini_beaches
They may not be the most beautiful sand beaches but there is nothing wrong with them if all you want to do is lay on a sunbed or take a swim.

I stayed in Santorini in the Oia Suites. It was a fantastic place to stay. On the Caldera, away from the crowds, lovely pool and spectacular views. Easy walk to Oia for sunset views and restaurants and a bus stop at the front. But, a place we also stayed at was the island of Naxos which had fabulous beaches with sand and small waves to play in. This was a great surprise for my surf loving husband.
