Suggestions for day before flight from CDG

Hi all - looking for ideas of where to spend our last day and night in France in a town close enough CDG to make an 11 am departure via train. Will have already spent time in Paris & Provence and plan to get to wherever we stay via train from Avignon. Considering Beaune. Thanks for any suggestions!

Dear Heavens. I'd suggest the TGV directly from Avignon to CDG--and it better arrive by 8AM!! Take your "day away from Paris and Avignon" earlier in your trip.

It's an international flight? So you need to be at the airport by 8 AM?

If you're flying internationally, you'll need to be at CDG by 8 am. If it's just a hop to another European country, you need to be there by 9 am. Beaune would be impossible. Even going directly from Avignon to CDG the morning of your flight would be incredibly risky. Go to Paris the day/afternoon before the day of your flight, spend a night in the city, then get to the airport early in the morning.

You know, sometimes the TGVs are late. I wouldn't risk it. I've been on several that were late, including one I just took from Paris to Bordeaux a month ago. I also was on a TGV from CDG to somewhere south (Avignon or Montpellier) and it was at least an hour late, if not more.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. We usually stay in the city we're departing from the night before, sounds like we'll continue to play it safe.

One common strategy for this popular combination: Paris + Provence, is to do Provence first then do Paris to eliminate having to stay in Paris for the second time.
