Suggestion for a hotel in Rome and Paris
Hi
We're a family of four with two kids of 5 and 15, taking our first trip to Europe. Planning to stay 3/4 N in Rome and 4 N in Paris. Please suggest any hotel with a price range of US150-200. Thanks !

What time of year is your trip? It might make a big difference regarding prices. You do understand that "rooms for 4" in Europe will probably be a tight squeeze (ie two double beds with 3 inches between them if you're lucky)...especially in your price range.

Your budget is quite modest for a family room (most rooms are barely larger than the one double bed they contain) - which costs more than a regular room. You need to be sure that any hotel you pick has good AC - many in europe don;t have AC at all - or have european style that just cools the room a little. And Aug in Rome will likely be high 90s and humid.

This place in Rome has one room left, 1 queen plus two twin beds, it is "free cancellation up til Aug 14th, pay later" on booking.com so you can book, but continue to search/decide/change plans

This one looks good for Paris, low 15Euro cleaning fee and good cancellation policy:

For Rome, check HOTEL LANCELOT on Capo D'Africa, within easy walking distance of the Colosseum. Some of the rooms have flowered terraces. A friend of mine stayed there in a quad apartment on the first floor, and loved it. Good luck!

We stayed at the Hotel Relais Bosquet and they have 3 apartments, as well as regular rooms.

I don't know what their rates are for the apartments.

we always recommend the hotel parlamento in rome... perfect location with easy walks in every possible direction. (nearish to the spanish steps.) they have a few rooms on their top floor that have doors out to the rooftop, where there are a few chairs and tables. this might be a good thing with kids...

In most cases, apartments are a valid choice only for experienced travelers, preferably those that have a good knowledge of the country, including a bit of ability with the language. The same goes for airb&b.
