Suggested Itinerary Low Countries, Scotland, Enfland Lake district
We want to go to the low countries, the Lakes District in the UK and Scottland Isles..... time duration 3 weeks in mid May or sometime during the spring shoulder season.
Fly into Amsterdam or Brussels out of Edinburough or London.
Suggestions for travel.....train? Do not like to drive but will in Lakes District, Scottland Isles.
Like to hike. Want to see Burges, Isle of Skye, tulips..... I understand a river cruise is a good way to see the low countries?
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Budget...... mid level small hotels (boutique) of course we want to get good value and the best bang for our $$

3weeks does not seem long enough for all of the locations you have listed.

Amsterdam- 4 nights- do a day trip to the Keukenhof and see zillions of tulips and other blooms - right in the heart of the Flower Fields.

Eurostar train via Lille or Brussels to London
London - 4 days
Take train to Lake District - Windermere - rail head and town loaded with inexpensive B&Bs near the station
3 days - use local buses and special open top deck buses to get around
Then head to Scotland - Glasgow and take West Highlands super scenic train to Maillag and boat to Skye
Skye - 3 days or so
Take bus to Kyle of Lochlash and another scenic train to Inverness and then to Edinburgh.
Could tailor and fit into 3 weeks.

Not to me - a bicycle could be great though - cruises usually last several days and cost a ton - and you'd have to sacrifice something in the British Isles.
You can rent a bike at zillions of places in The Netherlands - like at train stations and ride them to another station and return them.
Like to really experience the tulip and flower fields take the train to Haarlem - rent a fiets (push bike) and pedal about 20 miles thru the heart of the flower fields to the Keukenhof (mentioned above - the awesome flower show of Holland's flower industry)
and then putz onto nearby Leiden, ditch the bike and explore one of NL's great regional/university towns for a few hours and then hop the train back to Amsterdam.
