Do you have a budget in mind? The last such journey we went on we stayed at the Pusaudas of Portugal. They might not fit your budget.
Thanks for your reply. I don't think we could afford to stay in a pousada. We have been mainly staying in apartments and villas as easier with four adults and two children and the cost per couple has averaged about 110 aud a day.
That's about the same price we paid at the Pousadas the last trip. You just need to check to see what specials they are offering during for your dates.
From Seville, Tavira, Silves, Lagos, Capo San Vicente and the assorted beaches along the way. Then, head north to Evora.
I think you have three main choices for the drive.
One would take you north from Sevilla through Zafra (nice) and then over to Portugal through Monsaraz (nice castle town) and the Alentejo to Evora, then to Lisbon. there are lots of little places that are nice to visit in this area, Estremoz, Evoramonte, Redondo for pottery, etc.
If you want to stay on the beach, you could stay south, on the coast to Faro and then head north. Possible stops would be Tavira and other places on the coast east of Faro.
The third way would stay along the coast till Sagres (westernmost coastal point on the southern coast) and then drive north also along the coast. There are some very nice places on the coast north of Sagres and I would also recommend a stop in Santiago do Cacem, which has a really nice Roman excavation.
Nice choices, just depends on how much coast you want for your travels.
Thankyou for you replies. We are now looking at the coast and heading north and have also checked the prices of the pousades again and there are some good specials. Will have to check availability and whether we can have one child in each room. Sylvia
Monsaraz and Évora for sure.
My vote goes to Lreynold1's 1st option
