We are looking for a nice convenient hotel near the main Train Station in Strasbourg so as to revive and then leave early the following afternoon for Switzerland.

Both the Ibis and the Campanile directly facing the station could not be more convenient. And there are a half dozen other hotels also facing the station.

I stayed at the Hotel Monopole Metropole Best Western for a couple nights while I was in Strasbourg. It's really close to the train station as well as the Petit France area. It's on a quiet street just off the main square of the train station and the hotel itself is really cute and charming. Good breakfast and low rates

We stayed at the Mercure directly opposite the train station, and a short walk from the historic core. Very comfortable and highly recommended. http://www.mercure.com/gb/hotel-1106-mercure-strasbourg-centre/index.shtml
