Hi all
Am new to the forum and have a question about Strasbourg. My fiancee and I will be honeymooning in Europe in December and have booked accommodation in Strasbourg from 21 to 27 December. We will then spend the next week (including NYE in Paris) before heading to Rome.
Anyway, I'd be very happy to take recommendations for plans while we're in Strasbourg. At this stage, we don't have anything particular in mind. Aside from enjoying a European Christmas (which will be quite different as we're from Australia), strolling around and enjoying the markets and Cathedral, we are open for ideas. What would you all recommend, either within Strasbourg or a short day-trip?
I have heard that day-trips from Strasbourg to Colmar or into Germany might be a good idea but am not sure what the roads will be like at that time of year (again, coming from Australia driving in a European winter is not something I am entirely comfortable with).
Thanks in advance!

No need to drive to Colmar - perfectly good trains. For some things to do in Strasbourg see my TR - http://www.fodors.com/community/europe/nice-to-paris-on-not-taking-it-easy-in-eastern-france.cfm - search on Strasbourg.
Thank you, thursdayd. Trip reports like yours make this site so much fun to read.
Another question that I have is this: we are not religious but hope to take in midnight mass at the Cathedral on Christmas Eve. Is this possible - I mean, surely everyone in Strasbourg at Christmas wants to do this so is there somewhere you can book to reserve a place? Sorry if this is a stupid question!
