Have a question about Skansen. The general summer hours are apparently 10 AM to 10 PM -- but this attraction seems multifaceted and large, and appears to have widely varying hours depending on what part one wants to visit. If one wants to experience this place to a reasonably full extent, should this be done during "business hours" (say 10 AM to 5 PM), or can one get this by simply going in the evening?

I visited Skansen once on a weekend in June.
My primary goal was to see the folk dance demonstration and second goal was to visit some of the historic houses.
So, I planned my time around the hour of the performance and the hours the buildings were open.
If you want to see the buildings, I suggest you go when they are open and the docents are there to allow you to enter and explain what life was like in each situation. I found the farm homes were more distinct from other historic villages that I have visited, so I wish I had gone to them first and skipped some of the "town." I think I would have been much less impressed if I walked around the buildings when they were closed.
I also walked through the animal portion as I had a little time before the dance performance, though I didn't enjoy that as much. The city was experiencing a heat wave when I was there and the animals were really suffering (so was I).
We found Skansen to be huge, and involves a LOT of uphill walking. There is one little shuttle that makes a loop, but not free, and not a big loop, and it is midway up the park. We spent most of a Sunday there - lots of families having a great time, but the kids aren't very interested in the differing house styles, which is one of its big features. Unless you really like racing around, I wouldn't think in an evening you would see all that much.
Hi! Yes, if you would like to get into the buildings and see the demonstrations most all of them close by 5pm.
There definitely is a lot of walking (much of it is on pea-gravel) so be sure to have some comfy walking shoes.

Yes, it's large and there re a bunch of exhibits and activities. If you go only in the evening I think you will miss a lot of the attractions. Pick out what youwant to see most and check out the opening hours for thoe exhibits or activities. (Everything is NOT open all the time.)
