We had a good experience with the Marriott Courtyard in 2013. However, it is further from the center than the Kung Carl, although only a 10 minute walk to the T-bana (the subway system is an attraction in and of itself) and a bus stop nearer still to the back of the hotel. The rooms were nice sized, the breakfast was terrific and the staff helpful and attentive. If you don't need or want to be in the city center this is a fine choice.

Just checked their web page Marijua and that is one spectacular hotel! Unfortuntely it is a little out of our price range. Maybe a one night splurge would be ok.

The Sheraton is in a good location, it is not an especially great hotel but for location, it is good. Also the Radisson Blu Waterfront is convenient for the railway station, esp if you are coming from Arlanda on the express. If you don't need to be near the station, the Radisson Blu Grand has great views over the water but I think this might be the same hotel that Marijua has mentioned.

Check the page for Scandic hotels as they have several properties in Stockholm. You can often find good deals there. We did and stayed at the Hasselbacken Hotel on Djurgarden where many museums are located.

I was going to say Grand Hotel.

Your Best Western is not in a bad location ,in fact it is a good area.

You are across the street from the Stureplan Square ( pretty nice) and a block and a half from the lovely National Library.

However it is about a 10 block walk to get to Gamla Stan ( Old Town).

I think the Sheraton is a good location because you are walking distance to everything you might want to see.

If you do think of the Sheraton then get a waterfront view for sure.
Then from your hotel room you can look out and see:

1. City Hall ( you really have to go here)
2. Centrabron and Vasabron ( These are Bridges)
3. My favourite building the Stromberg ( should be straight ahead in your view.)
4. Ministry of Environment Building on your right.

5. Swedish House of Lords
6. Bonde Place ( beside House of Lords)

7. Parliament Building
8. Birger Jarl Tower
9. Steeple of the Riddarholmen Church ( unique metal steeple)

You can see all of these nicely from you hotel room view.

You just cross the Vasabron (Bridge) and you are in Gamla Stan ( Old Town)
