Many offer discounts in August - when business people are all on vacation. We got great rates at the Grand Hotel (which I found reasonable, for what you get). But if you search any of the major web sites you will find good rates.

I noticed that the Thon hotels offer a special July and summer weekend rate in Sweden and Norway. Has anyone tried this brand?

Look at the Scandic Hotels as well. They offer big discounts if you include a weekend stay.

I have also noticed Rica Hotel Gamla Stan, Hotel Skeppsholmen and Hotel Sturplan. These offer summer discounts but are at the top of my budget.

Scandic hotels also include breakfast and free WiFi which is
helpful and saves a lot of money.

HappyTrvir, thanks for the recomendation on the Scandic chain. There are lots of locations and alot of different discount rates. Also Tripadvisor and Booking.com have good reviews. I also like the included breakfast!
