Staying in Trastevere

This is our first trip to Rome and we are staying in an apartment Trastever for 7 days.
I would like to know about places to eat, sights to see , tours to take or not take and any helpful information is welcomed.
We love to walk and discover sight on our own so feel free to make suggestions.
We have booked a tour Rome Orientation and Rome at Twilight.
Going in May.
