St.Albans to Stansted airport UK help
Hi,
We will be staying in St. Albans and flying out of Stansted, have to be at the airport at 5.40am. Returning a week later at 10pm. Please help, how do we get to the airport at those times? Trains? Bus? Cab?
I know that to take the train we will have to go from St.Albans to Kingscross, then to Liverpool Street, then to Stansted, but do trains run at that time of the day and how long would the trip take? It seems that we would have to start out at a very unearthly hour!!
Anyone know what a cab would cost?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the advice. I just found out that the cab costs 58 pounds, seems a bit crazy considering that I am only paying 79 pounds to fly to Milan. I hear there is a bus that runs to Watford so may take that and catch a cab from there which is 15 pounds.
Thanks again :

Carol, that seems improbable to me. Watford is 6 miles south of St. Albans, which puts it 6 miles further from Stansted, which is towards the north-east. Although I suppose from Watford, the cabbie might take the M25 & M11, which might be faster than the A414, A10, A120 from St. Albans.

Hi Ron,
Sorry, I don't think I expressed myself clearly. I meant that we will catch a bus from Stansted to Watford, then a cab from there to St. Albans, unless we can find a better way of course.
We are thinking of hiring a car the day we need to get to Stansted and using it all day, then dropping it at the airport in the evening, I guess that would be possible and probably no more than the price of public transport for 3 people?
