Hello, I am going on my honeymoon in Italy and of course spending 3-4 nights in Rome. We will be using Starwood points for our hotel in Rome. We are debating between the St Regis and Hotel Eden. Any suggestions??

Keith and I stayed at the St. Regis Grand in September 2009. It is a very plush hotel, with beautiful rooms and Laura Tonatto toiletries.
I didn't think the service at the hotel was that spectacular. We paid well over $500 a night for our rooms and received the same kind of service we get in a two-star $150-a-night room in Paris.
I think the level of service is inadequate because of all the STARWOOD points people who stay there. It seems to be a big business hotel with people only staying one or two nights.
The hotel is in a good area. You can walk over to Termini to visit the grocery store in the basement level. You can get the Metro at Repubblica.
It isn't too far a walk to the Borghese Gardens and there are plenty of restaurants near the Maria Maggiore Church.
I wouldn't stay at the St. Regis again. And I would never stay there if I wasn't a walker. If you have mobility problems, it isn't a great location.
I have walked by the Hotel Eden and it is in a better location than the St. Regis Grand. You walk up the street to get to the Borghese Gardens and Metro. Walk down the street to get to the Via Sistina/Spanish Steps/Via Condotti.
Some good restaurants in Rome are: Buca di Ripetta, Trattoria Monti, Matricianella, and Cul de Sac.
If I was on my honeymoon in Rome, I would stay at the de Russie!!!!!!!!!!!!
