Spring fashion look for gals
Wondering what any current trends are in the casual spring look for women. Do you see the pastel jeans a lot? What else really looks current for the coming months? We're leaving in 3 weeks--mainly in Provence though--would love to catch up on the latest. Non-fashion folks, please skip over this topic--thanks.

There is a new handbag that I am seeing on everyone these days. It is a leather tote with a gold zipper about two thirds down the bag. The zipper has two, very large leather tassels and the top and bottom of the bag are in two very different leathers. Sometimes faux snakeskin or croc, often one of the sections in a very bright color like salmon, or kelly green. I don't know the story behind the bag. If it is a really high end designer, or what. But I am seeing tons of them and I saw some in a store window for 155€.
Colored jeans are on all the men. Haven't seen them on too many women, yet. Earlier, when I was shooting for my Friday@Flore series I got over 100 shots and only one girl in green jeans. Everyone else had black slacks or blue jeans (except the nuns).
TO be fair, the past few weeks have been cold and wet, so we haven't seen much spring fashion, yet.
I do hope that changes soon.

recently back from Paris. Plenty of colored jeans in sherbert
colors and pants in prints. The shops were filled with blouses, dresses with prints flora and fauna. Tiered mini skirts, shorts, mostly denim with black tights, short trench coats, long black skirts with see through at hip length were seen on the streets.

Provence: Cotton and linen skirts and dresses but not black,
Jeans are fine as are capris but not shorts , though you'll see them on passing hikers. Everything is very casual even in high end restaurants. Sandals, espadrilles, mariniere t-
are common. Simplicity reigns.

Great thread! I bought some lime green capris during an unseasonably warm spell in March, and now that snow (!) is forecast for here in Pgh. tonight, they seem pretty silly! But guess I will take them for so. of France, if not Paris.

Bought a pair of aqua ankle jeans--so pretty--now figure out st to go with--but it's happening. Mimi--afriad the tiered mini skirts--cute as they are--are not for those in my age group--better left on teens and twenties I'd say. Shorts for hiking only--agreed--and I like a nice pair of camper shorts myself--way more comfy and bigger pockets than jeans shorts. But now am considering cigale's cotton and linen skirts--but not black--hmmmm--have the most adorable skirt but---yup black eyelet fullish and pretty--a def no? on that??? Will have to review the skirt thing again--linen is tough for travel--agreed on simplicity--am loving all your answers. Grand merci!

Cigale--we have rented a cottage right in town in St. Remy. We like the fact that there are lots of restos and cafes there and we don't have to drive out anywhere to go out in the evening. We have stayed in that area several times and love to go out and about during the day--but now enjoy doing so at a more relaxed pace and being back early enough to enjoy a coffee or glass or wine "at home" in the late afternoon and just to read and relax a while before even thinking of going out or preparing dinner. With the alcohol laws and just for ease, we are much more comfortable settling in to one place where we can stroll for the evening. I am sorry that you are no longer able to go with your husband--we've been Fodors France "friends" for a long time--but u definitely still are steering the rest of us in the right direction. Take care,

The last time we stayed in St Remy was at Le Hotel des Images. Loved it!! we watched movies on a big screen, played pool in the same room. Accidently, one time was at a wedding in the church, lots of fun things happen in St Remy. Lucky you. Every thing will be in bloom.

kerouac, I think the Arr. most Americans stay in, have better dressed street style.
Perhaps, but we have not yet completed the wall we are building around it to keep them inside at all times. ;-)
