Spending one day in St Moritz/ bernina route.

I am thinking of doing bernina express from Tirano on way to Paris, first week of august .
I will be leaving early from Tirano and would be in St Mortiz by noon at the most.
So I will have that rest of the day and some of the early next day to spend there.
I am looking for suggestions on, where to spend that day or so.
What is the most scenic place around ?
I would prefer a village or a small town with some gorgeous views. Looks St. Moritz is too commercialized
Would love to ride a cable car , if there are in that area.
I am also open to options outside of the bernina route, but not far off as, I am short on time.
If there are better options enroute to Basel from st.mortiz , I am open to that too as that would on my way to Paris.

Nice places to stay:

Daivoezza I think has a luggage storage in its train station - not sure but get off the BEX there - take the cable car to the awesome glacier and then board a regular train (most of the awsesome scenery is gone by at this point) to St Moritz or Pontresina - which many enjoy more than glitzy St Moritz.

Another vote for Muottas Muralg, though you aren't hurting for options!

Pontresina is near St.Moritz and meets your request, scenic, nearby, charming.
Look at Hotel La Collina
