Special birthday trip, but WHERE? Looking for ideas!

I have a milestone birthday coming up in the fall and am looking to do a special trip in late September/October. I am thinking about 2 weeks for the trip.

Originally I wanted to go on a safari in Africa, but for a number of reasons, that is now out. I am somewhat adventurous, independent traveler, my DH ,not so much. I do not want to go within the US, Canada, Mexico, Carribbean or Israel, Australia, - I've either gone in the last few years, or they do not interest me.

I am focussing more on Europe now, especially Prague, Italy, Spain . I love France but have been to Paris multiple times and also seen Provence, Dordogne, Loire Valley and Normandy. I would like to do something I haven't seen before, but then again, I really love Paris...

On a totally different bent, I am thinking maybe China....
Anyone have a really special trip destination that they would do for a great birthday trip.

How much of a consideration is budget?

If I could do anything for two weeks, I'd probably do one of the following. This is just me, but you did ask for ideas.

1) Buenos Aires/Patagonia/Easter Island (maybe not feasible to do all, but some combination; also not sure how good a time September/October would be) - this is somewhere I've never been

2) Some combination of Barcelona, Seville, Cinque Terre, Rome or Amalfi Coast - mixes places I've really liked with places I haven't been yet

China hasn't really ever held too much interest for me personally, but some friends of mine just got back and they had an amazing time. Seems like it might be a harder sell for your less adventurous husband, though.

Thanks for the ideas! Morocco is definitely an idea i hadnt considered.
I forgot to include Turkey & Greece on the "no" list since we just went there last fall. I loved Istanbul by the way! We also cannot travel to any area with malaria issues due to health concerns, so that is leaving out a few areas that I would normally consider.
Barcelona, Amalfi coast are pretty high on my list of places to go that I've never been. I suppose I could combine a Spain and Italy trip.
Thanks for the ideas so far!
