Spanish Olive Oil Recommendations

I am leaving for Spain on Thursday and will be visiting Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Madrid, Toledo and Segovia. I am compiling a list of food purchases and certainly want to buy olive oil. Can I please get recommendations for a brand and which city I buy it In? Thanks for your help.

The best olive oil I've ever tasted was in a Sevilla restaurant some years ago (Taberna del Alabardero). The oil was from Estepa close to Sevilla, and here they really mean business about their olive oils:

Here's the best shop in Madrid, on Calle Mejía Lequerica 1. Metro station: Alonso Martínez.

Just remember that you will not be able to bring it home (assuming that is the US) in carryon baggage. You will need to have it packed to fit in your checked baggage or direct shipped to you at home.

I stopped bringing home olive oil from Spain years ago-there's so much available in the States!
By the way, because of the European Union, lots of olive oil is now mixed with other Union countries................

Unless you find a very, VERY special oil, you will not want to bother transporting it. Go to www.tienda.com for a large variety of oils.

"By the way, because of the European Union, lots of olive oil is now mixed with other Union countries................" Really? Not the Spanish oils we use.

Most of the best olive oils are not available at La Tienda, which deals mainly with the more common olive oils from the south. Some of the ones we bring home with us include Abbae and Alhema from Navarra, which can be ordered at: www.oliveoilwarehouse.com, and Alfar la Maja, also from Navarra, but can be ordered from: www.olivaoliva.com in Madrid.

On our last tip to the UK, for some reason I did not think they would consider marmalade a liquid and it was confisacted.

One Spanish olive oil I like is Las Brisas. For some reason I find most SpanisH OO's more redolent with a deeper taste, which I prefer.
