Spain/Portugal for 3 1/2 wks.

Planning a trip for myself and 24 yr. old daughter. We will leave middle of September for 21-24 days. We have the following parameters: fly in or out of Madrid, want some beach time, some hiking, some shopping. We want to see museums, countryside, historical sites. Daughter received her degree in biology and would like to find a good science museum. We don't have to see everything, just hit the highlights and have some down time to take in the the local flavor. I have been struggling with the itinerary and have come up with 2 possibilities. Not sure if they are too ambitious.

I. Fly to Porto
Porto - 3 nts.
Travel by car to Lisbon - 2 nts.
Lisbon - 3 nts.
Fly to Barcelona
Barcelona - 4 nts.
Fly to Granada
Granada - 2 nts.
Travel by car to Seville - 3 nts., including beach
Seville - 3 nts.
Train to Madrid
Madrid - 4 nts.
Fly home

II. Fly to Barcelona
Barcelona - 4 nts.
Fly to Majorca
Majorca - 4 nts.
Fly to Granada
Granada - 2 nts.
Same as 1st itinerary
We have 4 days to fill in, possibly San Sebastián at the beginning, flying into Bilbao

My daughter definitely wants to go to Barcelona, Madrid, and Seville. Other than that, the itinerary is flexible. Any suggestions are appreciated.
