Spain is a very large country. Parts of it can be warm in May and other parts are still mild. What part of Spain were you planning to visit?

A little more info would help. How long do you have? What do you want to see/do? Have you picked cities you are interested in?

OIn May southern Spain will already by quite hot (definitely beach weather), while Switzerland will be pleasant to cool to cold - depending on how far up the mountains you go.

I've been to Andalucia a few times in May and experienced a variety of weather. One year it was very mild (mid-60's farenheit for highs) yet another year it was 20 degrees warmer. So you just never know about the weather.

Hi SYATrip,

May is considered mud month in the Swiss Alps due to the melting snows & spring rains. It's too early for flowers.

Because of the bad weather, that's when many cable cars close for routine maintenance, and many village hotels close to give the staff their time off.

June would be a much better bet if you want to see the mountains.

Have fun!
