Hi,
My wife and I are planning a trip to Spain in mid June. We know it will be very hot unfortunately but we've tried to come up with a couple of possible itineraries. We are hoping to hear some thoughts on our plans. As a little more background, we are in our late 20's/early 30's, no children, and we have traveled a fair bit. We like history, museums, scenic views, unique cultural activities, tasty food and people watching. We generally prefer a busier vacation rather than a more laid back vacation with lots of down time. Our biggest dilemma is whether to attempt to see Barcelona or to skip it and wait til another trip back to Spain (which likely won't be for >10 years).
Itinerary 1:
D1: Madrid
D2: Madrid
D3: Toledo (day trip from Madrid)
D4: Segovia (day trip from Madrid)
D5: Cordoba
D6: Cordoba
D7: Sevilla
D8: Sevilla
D9: Pueblos blancos (Arcos de la frontera and/or Ronda)
D10: Granada
D11: Granada
D12: Leave Spain
We could also skip the pueblos blancos and/or segovia and add an extra day or 2 elsewhere.
Itinerary 2:
D1: Barcelona
D2: Barcelona
D3: Barcelona
D4: Madrid
D5: Toledo (day trip from Madrid)
D6: Cordoba
D7: Cordoba
D8: Sevilla
D9: Sevilla
D10: Granada
D11: Granada (catch 6pm train back to Madrid)
D12: Leave Spain
thanks in advance for any feedback,
k

You don't need more than a day in Cordoba ( can be done on the way to Seville.( add a day to Madrid)
I am partial to Barcelona, so I vote for 2.
Or, you can fly (early), Barcelona- Granada ( Vueling has cheap flights), spend the day and night in Granada, take a train or bus to Seville later the second day ,spend 3 nights in Seville. Take early AVE to Madrid ( stop in Cordoba on the way if you wish) and end the trip in Madrid.

Funny you should ask. I just wrote a post on my blog about one of my all-time favorites, Montserrat, which is an easy day trip from Barcelona. I haven't yet blogged about Barcelona but I enjoyed it and I was glad I went. It's not Rome, or Paris but it's a very nice city.
Happy trails
Janet
I would also suggest you take one day off Córdoba and add it to plain fantastic Sevilla.
If you are looking for unique cultural activities, mid June is the time to come down here. You should join the quintessential Andalusian El Rocío pilgrimage around the week-end 10-13th of June. Then about a million people end up in the small city El Rocío near Almonte in the Huelva region to celebrate the Virgen del Rocío in a party of music, dance and joyful madness. http://www.andalucia.com/festival/rocio.htm
