1st trip to Spain, and I'm looking for the most luxurious hotel in Southern Spain, does anyone have any suggestions? I'd heard about a hotel called Las Dunas, has anyone stayed there before?

When we were planning our trip many of the guide books including Michelin rated La Bobadilla (west of Granada) very highly. I think Penelope Casas said it was one of the top resorts in southern Spain. For a city (Seville) hotel, I think Alphonso XIII is wonderful. Good service, excellent location, but not a resort. Of course, there are many top resorts in Marbella on the coast. Sorry I can't help you with Las Dunas. I don't see anything in Michelin. Good luck!
Does anyone have input on the Marbella Club?
Marbella Club is a Leading Hotels of the World property, right on the beach. It has a golf course and tennis next door at its sister property, Hotel Puento Romano. It's THE resort in that part of the world. Check it out at: http://www.lhw.com
Went to Spain in Oct. and stayed at the Meridien Los Monteros in Marbella. We loved it. The rooms were spacious, the service fantastic. The pool was nice and they had an additional heated pool at the beach club. It had several tennis courts and we had access to a golf course. The buffet breakfast included in the price was great. We would have loved to stay at THE resort--the Marbella Club but it was out of our price range. We weren't sure about which city to stay in, in the South of Spain but I am so glad we chose Marbella we really enjoyed ourselves and it is a great city. Have a great time.
