South West France
I'm flying into Bordeaux Airport at the end of September, renting a car and spending 2 nights in St-Jean-de-Luz and 2 nights in San Sebastian. I was planning on spending the last 2 nights of my trip in Bordeaux, but after reading reviews in the Fodor's Forum, I'm not convinced it's the best choice. I'll be flying to Paris from Bordeaux. Can anyone recommend another stop on my itinerary?

Why not fly to Paris afterSan Sebastial and spend the last two nights in Paris?
That would add quite a bit to the cost of the car rental.
Bordeaux is fine as a town. But if you do not want to spend a day there, you could stop for the night in Arcachon. Or, depending on when your flight departs, the last night in Arcachon, dropping the car off at the Bordeaux airport on your departure day.

Biarrtiz is always nice in late September, after the crowds have departed. Depending on your budget, you can stay at the Villa le Goeland (www.villagoeland-biarritz.com), Château de Brindos (chateaudebrindos.com), Les frères Ibarboure (freresibarboure.com/en/l-hotel/hostellerie.html), or the Hotel 7B (www.hotel7b.com).
