Some advice
My husband and I will be visiting Italy for the first time from November 25 to December 3rd.
We are planing to spend 4 days in Rome, 2 days in Florence, staying at Hotel Delle Nazioni, and 2 days in Venice, staying at Hotel Le Boulevard.
Have anyone stayed at these hotels before?
We will be taking the train to go from one city to the other one. Is it better to buy the tickets in advance or just get them at the train station?
Also, is it worth it to get museum passes in these 3 cities?
Thanks!!
Veronica

Just some advice for your posts.... you'll get much more response if you make your heading much more specific. You need to put something like "Advice needed on these Italy hotels and train tickets" or something like that.
"Some advice" doesn't indicate at all what you're looking for and many people will just ignore such a post.

Hi Veronica,
>We will be taking the train to go from one city to the other one. Is it better to buy the tickets in advance or just get them at the train station?<
You can buy your tickets to Florence and Venice at the train station at FCO when you buy your ticket to Rome TE.
If you wish, you can buy up to 60 days in advance at www.trenitalia.com/en for the same price.
>..is it worth it to get museum passes in these 3 cities?<
In Florence
Uffizi and Academia Museum Reservations
The easiest and cheapest way is to call Florence 011 (U.S. international access code) 39 (Italy's country code) then 055-294-883 8:30-18:30 M-F and 8:30-12:00 Sat. Florence time. You will get an English speaking operator and in 2-3 minutes YOU CAN RESERVE FOR BOTH. This is through the reservation service at the Uffizi and costs beyond the normal entry fee only about 1.60 euro for the service. This is MUCH cheaper than the commercial booking services.
You will not be charged for the reservations unless you use them.
In Venice
Secret Itineraries tour of Doge?s palace
Phone number is 011 39 041 520 9070.

Thanks very much for your comments!!
Ira,
Thanks for the information. I'll try to reserve the tickets by phone.

Verito, in Venice, Hotel Le Boulevard is located on Lido island, isn't it? Maybe you had an extremely avantageous deal? With only 2 days (2 nights or 1 night?) there, maybe you want to consider staying in Venice proper. In this periode, it wouldn't be too hard to find a good deal.

Thanks for your comments about Le Boulevard!!!
Let me tell you that we made some mistakes when booking the hotels in Venice and Florence.
First of all, at that time I didn't know about the forums and that I could get so many great ideas and advice from another travelers.
Also when we looked for hotels in Venice, we search for hotels near St. Marks Square and Le Boulevard was only 0.64 miles away. Since we have never visited Venice before, we though that was pretty close and didn't realize it was located in another island and not in Venice properly.
The hotels seems to be very nice and I think we got a good deal, only US$81 plus taxes a night.
After reading a few reviews I found out that the hotel it's only 2 minutes from the vaporetto stop and then 10 minutes to Venice. Some people also said that the trip from Lido to Venice it's very nice.
I don't think it's worth it to change it now, specially because there is a US$25 cancellation penalty. What do you think??

We are finally leaving to Italy tomorrow.
Kappa, mamc
I followed your advice and changed the hotel to one in Venice properly. We are now staying at Palazzo Guardi. It seems to be very nice and situated in a good location. I'll post my comments when I get back.
Thanks to all of you for the information, it really helped us a lot.
In 2 weeks I will tell you how we liked Italy.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
