Does anyone know how safe it is for a solo female to tour around Moscow during the day? In searching the Forum, only 10 year old posts come up...I'm trying to gauge what the situation is like now. I've travelled quite a bit and know a fair amount about keeping myself safe, but wondered if anyone had any more recent information. I'm leaving in a couple days and plan on walking around the city, visiting the big sites and taking the Metro by myself during the day...I will be with friends in the evening so am not so worried about after dark.

absolutely no reason to fear for your safety in Moscow daytime, especially. As this forum always says, Just be aware and alert. The anti-Putin push will probably still be in high gear...just steer clear od demo areas.
"Go see it" goseeit! You will have a most enjoyable trip.

You will be just fine over there. I ve done it several times using the metro, maps and my Phone GPS. It is safe anyways.
Go, I was in Moscow solo back in September 2010. I hired guides for museums and palaces but otherwise was on my own. I did not fear for my safety, just traveled as I would in any other large city anywhere in the world.
