small towns

i will be traveling in early june to italy.we are spending 3 nights in venice,then renting a car and driving to florence.we have 3 day to spend traveling.i think we want to stay 1 night near bologna and then 2 nights in tuscany.we want small,quaint,artsy,out of the way places,non touristy,and we can sight see in the area during the day.anyone have suggestions?

Near Bologna, Dozza fits your criteria (small, artsy).

i saw dozza on the map.do you know any hotels or B&B there?

I know nothing about hotels or B&BS in Dozza, since I was there on a day trip with a friend who lives in Bologna.

There is a rather large, long thread "Small Towns" (notice the caps) that started in 2002 and has had random additions ever since. I topped it so that you could glance at it.
(Lots of Tuscany in there.)

i found the one place to stay in dozza,it looks wonderful and we booked it for a night.i think i am leaning towards pienza for our place to stay in tuscany.any suggestions?i found a hotel that looks wonderful in the center of the town called antica locanda.anyone know this place?
