Slovenia weather in August?

Greetings! My family (two adults and two boys, ages 9 and 5 by then) will be in Europe for a wedding next August and would like to find a great place to spend a week following the festivities. I love the idea of Slovenia because it sounds as though we could really see a lot of the country in that time, and I enjoyed reading about the wonderful farm stays, etc.

However, I'm curious about the weather (specifically the humidity) at that time of year. I realize that it's August and will therefore be hot just about anywhere, but I'm wondering if any of you have been there during the summer and found it particularly oppressive. (Just as a frame of reference, home for us is Portland, Oregon, USA, where it's not very humid and generally pretty temperate...although not today. :) )

Any words of wisdom are most welcome!
