We are now in Croatia and headed to Slovenia for three days. Does anyone have suggestions for farm stays? We have a farm girl with us who would love the experience.

Definitely try the Hudicevec as it is a working farm and is close to the caves etc. Found a review at http://www.sloveniaforyou.com/AccommodationHudicevec.htm
The Posavje region - in south east Slovenia near the border with Zagreb - is full of tourist farms (and vineyard cottages, if you prefer drinking wine to feeding animals, but still want to stay in the countryside).
It's hard to recommend just one, but Pri Martinovih in the hills south of Brežice is one of the better ones. You can find more info here:
