Sleeping in Frankfurt Airport
We are travelling through europe in March and are departing from the Frankfurt airport. We will be arriving by train late in the afternoon with a 7:45 AM flight. I have noticed that the Airport has sleeping accomodations. Is it safe? Comfortable? Any info?

Their is a very nice Sheraton Hotel on the airport grounds in Frankfurt with a walkway to the departure gates. Nice hotel and you cannot get any closer than that for convenience. It is safe and clean. We have stayed there a few times when in your same situation. You can also check the Steigenberger Hotel that is very close but will need a van ride to take you to the gate.
I'll be returning to america from Rome witha layover in Frankfurt. I arrive in frankfurt at 9:30 pm and have a flight out at 9:30 am. I am considering just grabbing a seat in a terminal and sleeping there. Has anyone done this there? Is it allowed? Is it safe? I'm worried that security will come in the middle of the night and ask me to leave.

I stayed at the Sheraton last summer. We had an enormous room with three single beds (there were three of us) and the rate on the door, which would be "rack rate," equated to $325. I'm sure they have smaller, lower priced rooms, and rarely does anyone pay what is noted on the back of the room door. The dollar was very strong in Germany last summer. It's worth checking into as it was a very convenient place to stay. Just have to walk across the short walkway over the street connecting the hotel and the terminal. There are two terminals. I left from the connecting terminal, but my friends left from the other. They needed to take a short tram ride. We had dinner at the hotel and it was very nice and not as expensive as a similar dinner would have been in an upscale restaurant in a U.S. Sheraton. I'm sure it was because of the strength of the dollar.

len, if you're talking about rooms literally at the airport, (sometimes called rest cabins, they are like small hotel rooms, usually without windows.
They can be rented by the hour, or for the night, but often the max is for 10 hours. I've never been to the Frankfurt ones, but my guess would that they would be very clean and comfortable. Typically there is a small bathroom w/shower, a basket of amenities and a single or double bed. Very small. They will provide wake up calls if needed. With so many hotels right at Frankfurt airport, I'd be inclined to stay at one of those. The airport rest cabins are great if all you want to do is sleep, period.
