Six Nations in Ireland
I'm going to be in Dublin on the 15th of March when Ireland matches England in the 6 Nations. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where to watch the match? If so, should we get there early etc.
Go Ireland!
Thanks!

At a guess any pub will have the match on - you do realise it is at Twickenham don't you? And they play each other not match each other .
Otherwise you can always watch it in your hotel room or lounge.

Please do not watch it in your hotel room or lounge. Even if the match is an away match most of the pubs especially in the center will be packed and the atompshere will be great. You will find loads of pubs with big screens to watch the game. Just make your way to the center and follow the crowds if all else fails just ask someone for a sports bar.
In fact when we are outside of the UK if there is a rugby match on that the hubby wants to see he seeks out an Irish Theme bar as they are sure to show the game. So you will have no problem finding one.
You do realise that there are 3 games on 1 after another. The first is Itay and Sotland the second is England and Ireland. The 3rd game the last one in the 6 nations is Wales and France. You just have to Watch the Ireland game if your in Ireland and the last game is a must watch to see who wins the 6 nations . Who will if anyone will the win the grand slam who will get the wooden spoon?
Yes get there early

Good rugby pubs in Dublin are generally around the Baggot Street/Ballsbridge areas. Try somewhere like Doheny & Nesbitts or the 51 always has a good atmosphere. Kielys in Donnybrook is another great rugby pub. Yes, you should get there early!
crazychick - I reckon France will win the Grand Slam again. Looking at Englands performance against Italy next weekend I doubt they will be able to beat them - especially not in Paris.
Wooden spoon will come down to the match between Italy and Scotland...I think Italy can beat Scotland at home, so the Scots might have to settle for the wooden spoon.
My husband and I are big rugby fans and go to all the Ireland and Leinster home matches, and usually go to a couple of away games every year (and had a trip to the world cup last year). However our first baby is due on the 15th March...I hope the baby decides to stay where she is at least until the match is over!!

Congrats Cailin! We tend to watch the games when they are in Dublin in Jury's Croke park but this is only open to ticket holders and residents...i am a resident.
Dandoo I think Dohney and nesbitts is a good place to watch. The 51 and Kielys are great but a bit further outside the city centre. Juyst wwander anywhere around grafton street and it will be playing in the pubs off the main street. Its great atmosphere in the pubs.

The Old Stand in Wicklow street is an option - but beware - the drinks are overpriced!
If you're in the city centre, the Pav (Pavillion) at the back of the Trinity College campus would be a good choice too. It'll be packed but good fun.
Kiely's in Donnybrook would be good too.
If you are staying near a rugby club - and there are some nearish the city centre, another option would be to go into the clubhouse bar. You don't need to be a member and the atmosphere will be great. Let us know where you're staying and we can tell you if there's a club nearby.
And yes, it's France all the way this time - pity Ireland decided to play like morons in the first half last week, but there you go. I still have hopes of a Triple Crown though!

Comfort inn is fine and the luas is a quick walk and very handy. There is a pub opposite on the corner called the cobble stone...good music looks like an old mans pub but a good start. Als in the area Walshes has been re-done and meant to be great. Its a 5 minute walk from the hotel and they can direct. Its an old neighborhood but growing slowly and getting more gentrified by the year. Not sure that is good or bad but just life.

If you're staying in Smithfield then your nearest clubhouse is the Pavillion in Trinity. You could combine this with a visit to the Library and the Book of Kells (this is a shameless plug as I work there).
Here's a link so that you can see where the Pav is -
http://www.tcd.ie/Maps/pav.html
Otherwise any of the other suggestions are good, although I'd add Mulligan's of Poolbeg Street for an authentic Dublin experience - http://www.mulligans.ie/, and also the Porterhouse in Temple Bar (not the city centre one) - http://www.porterhousebrewco.com/templebar.html - because it serves food too and soakage is essential.
I also second Siobhan's suggestion of The Cobblestone (not for the game though) - it's a truly great place to hear some traditional Irish music. You're right beside it and you shouldn't miss it.

ter I would not reccommend the OPAv in Trinity could be a bit dead and more a student bar this time of year. Try one of the bars off grafton street on hARRY sTREET. bRUXELLES WILL SHOW THE GAME AS WELL AS mCdAIDS.
The porter house in Temple bar is a brewery and a food stop and in the city centre. Mulligans I would also say is great.

I agree with Siobhan - the Pav will most likely be dead on a Saturday. Any of the pubs in and around Grafton Street / Baggot Street or Temple Bar will be showing the match and the atmosphere should be good.
