I'm leaving in two weeks to go to Croatia, in which I'll be flying into zagreb. I have an unlocked GSM phone and trying to find information on where when I land can I get a sim card from?
I'm going to a few cities and every place asked me to call before I arrive, so I'm really hoping to get a sim card somewhere, but not sure where? Will somebody from the airport be selling sim cards?
I read the company Tomato is one of the least expensive prepaid sim cards, but can't find any of their locations. I'm flying into zagreb and will be in samobor the first night. So any suggestions I would appreciate it.

I was in Croatia in October but because my Father had become ill I never made it to Samobor. Please let me know what the town was like.
I think you will be able to easily find SIM cards most places except I really didn't see anyplace in the Zagreb airport ( it is really small) to buy one nor could I find one in Rovinj. I gave up after a while and used my roomates phone.

I keep trying to read as much as possible about where to find sim cards, so hopefully when I get there and ask a hundred people or so I'll be able to find something.
Since beginning of this year, registration is required if you wish to buy a pre-paid SIM card, so i am not sure in you can still get one in the airport kiosk, worst case you will have to find a mobile phone shop somewhere
Don't know about this new law. We bought a Tomato SIM card at a tiny shop close to our apartment outside the Ploce Gate in Dubrovnik. The card came in what looked like a Campbell's soup can. We added time to the card at another tiny shop in Korcula town. The first shop sold food and newspapers, the second newspapers and magazines.
BTW the card worked fine. But the instructions were all in Croatian. We had to ask our landlady how to get our phone number. She was a bit embarrassed the instructions weren't in English.

I actually went to their official website before and had issues even with the English option, but this time I found pricing as well as locations that sell it. For Samobor there's a list of about 20 places, so I'm printing out the list and when I check in my first place I'll ask them there if they can tell me the closest place from the list

Tomato is everywhere
It has never been easier to find Tomato. It is available everywhere: news-stands, supermarkets, gas stations, post offices, electronics stores. Just look for the Tomato sign or find a retail outlet on our list.
When I arrived in Zagreb I asked the person working the front desk at the rental company and he told me you could get the sim cards anywhere, especially any place that sells tobacco and that they sell them in zagreb airport.
I didn't have time to get the sim card when I was in the airport, but I drove to samobor, which across the street from my hotel was a tobacco store.
I purchased a tomato card for 100 kunas that includes 50 kunas of minutes/text/data. Since all the instructions were in Croatian, I couldn't have done it without the help of the lady at the tobacco store that was so kind.
One recommendation if anybody is going to buy the sim card is not to through out the paperwork that comes with the sim card. If you reboot the phone, the sim card will not work without the pin number. So you want to make sure you keep this pin number, which I almost throughout all the information after I got the sim card working.
The sim card lasted me the entire two weeks I was in Croatia. While I used it while in Croatia to call Mostar and the cost was very high and I noticed that while in Mostar it was considered roaming, so I turned on airplane mode.
The sim card also included data, which I noticed I had a 4G connection anywhere I went, but for the most part I used wifi as much as possible when it was free.
