Sim card for Netherlands, Germany & Belgium
Hi everyone,
Which telecom co is the best service provider for mobile sim cards for Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.
I would require good amount of data pack during my vacation of 15 days as i will be using Google maps during this period. Also will require to make international calls back home to our families atleast once a day.
it would be great of someone can suggest a particular pack which fulfills the above requirements.
Thank you again

which country are you arriving in? If Germany, you can go into any third-party cell phone shop (look for ones run by Turkish folk) and ask for a SIM that offers data in those countries. They'll hook you up.

For your calls back to the US find a fast wifi connection and use Skype or Google Hangouts. There is a small charge for calls to landlines with the Skype app, but calls to computers & cellphones on the internet are free. I love Skype video calls, but haven't yet tried Hangouts, although I have the app.

Based on the username and writing style and time of post, OP is in India. But the advice is still relevant if OP goes to places where free and fast WiFi abounds (it is generally not free in Germany).

You can download Google maps of the places you need before you travel so you won't need data for those.
You will not get unlimited data on a PAYG SIM. I am not even sure anyone offers unlimited data with a contract.
Make use of free WiFi as much as possible. Calling abroad will still be expensive. Do you really need to call home daily?
If you buy a sim from a Dutch provider you will probably need to buy an EU bundle in addition to what you have for the Netherlands. For instance for 50 Mb data per day(assuming this is after 30 April) in Europe with KPN you will pay an extra €2.50 per day you switch it on (which you do with an sms). Calling India from the Netherlands with a prepaid phone will cost you €1 a minute, the US will cost you €0,55 per minute. Costs will soon mount up.

I recall seeing an ad for a SIM in Munich that offered 10 cents per minute for calls to India plus a pretty good data plan. As this was 3 or 4 years ago and I had no need for such a product since I had a local contract, I didn't bother remembering the name. Point is that if you go to an independent shop that sells new and used mobile phones, you can get a SIM that gives you a good call rate to India (if that is something you want) and a reasonable data plan.

Yes, I fell into the trap of assuming the poster was from the US.
A good way to make international calls is to arrange by text message for both parties to be at a wifi connection at a given time, then make a Skype call. It's almost always possible to make a voice call, but if you are both at a high speed internet connection you will be able to place a video call.
