I have heard that I can purchase a SIM card for an iPad in Istanbul that will give me access to the internet while touring the city away from my hotel? Has anyone had experience doing this and where in Istanbul did you go to purchase the card? We are staying in Sultanahmet at the Hotel Amira.

Go into any Turkcell, Avea or Vodophone store on Divanyolu with your ipad and they should be able to help you.
My wife uses an older ipad and does not need a sim card (probably cannot even hold one) to access the internet as long as there is free wi-fi available nearby, and you would be surprised at how many you can find all over the city.
