My husband and I are planning a trip to Sicily in May. I am interested in hearing everyone's favorite areas and things to see. I have to say two things. My grandmother was born in Sciacca, so we must visit there. And, my husband is Greek, so we want to see the Greek monuments in Agrigento. Other than that, we are open to different things. We plan to be there 10 days. Any suggestions?

My suggestion would be to stay in the town of Sciacca...not the outskirts. Sciacca is a wonderful small town and nice to walk..day or night. We stayed at Garibaldi Relais..it was a great location. The B&B itself was just ok..nothing special. But my point is to stay intown.
anita - Sciacca and Agrigento are pretty close together so you should have no problems seeing both.
i've been looking at a trip of about that length too, and so far as i can tell, it's pretty hard to see all the island in that time. so you could chose to do the north-west, flying into Palermo, then working you way down to Agrigento, or the south and east, flying into Catania.
given the proximity of Sciacca to Palermo i think that's the way I'd go, were I you.
If you do go to Agrigento then go at night as well as in the day. You can see the temples all lit up on the winding approach road and it looks marvelous. You can't go up to the temples at night but can get close enough to see one of them as they are illuminated.
ann - you're correct. With 10 days you can see one side of the island or the other. It's much too difficult to see everything in 10 days.
