Shuttle from CDG into Paris

Shuttle from CDG into Paris
My husband and I will be coming into CDG airport in early September and had planned to take a shuttle to our Paris hotel. Can anyone recommend a company, or should we just take a taxi? Many thanks!

What do you mean by shuttle? A hotel shuttle? An Air France navette? The Roissybus?
I always take a taxi, but other people prefer public transportation or one of the options above. It also depends where your hotel is.

i had a good experience with the opera-cdg bus...it's behind the opera house, leaves frequently, and inexpensive.

I'd just take a taxi but there are shuttles that can save you a little money if you are more than one person. The only one I ever booked (Bluvan at Orly) never showed up, so I wouldn't recommend them.
It does really depend where you are going, as I have taken to using the RER the last few years but only when I stay very near a metro stop that is just one stop from the RER line, and at times of day when it isn't busy. Saves a lot, and I actually prefer doing it on my own to dealing with taxis. Lots cheaper, also, at least for one person.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments and advice. In US cities, we've taken the Super Shuttle to and from the local airports--that's the kind of thing I was looking for in Paris. But it may be that a taxi is the solution--alas, we're not as young as we used to be and dealing with the luggage on trains and buses is a bit of a challenge.

I have in the past and will be using Paris Shuttle when I go to Paris in October. It is much like Super shuttle, though not always 100% prompt on pickup to return to CDG from hotel, but never had a real problem. Also check Viator which I think will be with Paris Shuttle, very reasonable price.

May I make a suggestion, a useful one once you get used to the idea. I, too, am not as young as I used to be and my solution has been smaller luggage. I still find I have more than I need.

I gave Paris Shuttle a try month before last. I've used a lot of different shuttle companies, in Paris, over the last 20+plus years and personally haven't had any problems with any of them. This time I booked the private service where I was the only one in the car. It was 60 Euros and the driver was waiting for me, at the terminal with a sign with my name on it. He took my luggage and rolled it out to the car and off we went. I was late getting in and my luggage was really late arriving, but the driver waited. I also had the same service pick me up at the apartment where I was staying and then was on my way back to CDG.

My friend, who arrived to Paris a few hours before I arrived, took SuperShuttle from CDG to the apartment and had no problem with it at all. He's taken it before as have other friends. He was already at the apartment when I arrived and said that it was easy sailing.
If you're staying at a hotel, the hotel can book you a shuttle back to CDG and it should cost around 18Euros as that's what I paid in summer 2015 as on that trip I stayed in a hotel as opposed to an apartment. On that trip, the shuttle arrived 15 minutes early for my pick up time.

18 euros is a good deal for a shuttle back to CDG if it's private and you don't have to wait for it to make the rounds to other hotels.
As for a 60-euro shuttle service on arrival, that's more than a taxi, which is basically a private shuttle. And it may be a peculiarity of mine, but I hate to arrive somewhere and have to look for someone with my name displayed on a sign. Kind of gives me the creeps to be honest. I like to slink into a country as anonymously as I can.

Paris is sort of a huge city. You would get better advice if you gave the name and location of your hotel.
Depending on where I would be going in Paris I would take the RER or the Air France bus. The bus driver puts your luggage in the hold. If you can't get your own luggage on the train you have too much. A taxi is nuts.

Taxi to Paris is a fixed charge. Unlike a transfer, you don't have to deal with no-shows. My driver started running a meter. I reminded him that it was a fixed charge. He replied, "oh, yes, you are right." Of course, I was.

You can do nothing and deal with decreasing transportation options. I have progressively reduced my luggage down to a 20" for a three week long trip.

Eighteen euros does not get one a private shuttle. It's a shared shuttle , but there have been a few times when I've been the only person in a shared shuttle, but only paid 18 euros or less. However, as far as my overall Paris, shuttle experiences, there are usually only one or two stops after I've been picked up if I'm the first to be picked up.
As for the stops, I don't mind the stops as in Summer 2015, it cost me 69,50 euros to take a taxi from CDG to my hotel on Blvd. St. Germain in the 6th, but only cost me 18 euros to take a shared shuttle from my hotel back to CDG and I arrived at CDG in more than plenty time to catch my flight and also chatted with some interesting people in the shuttle. Plus, I saved a lot of money.
As for having the driver wait for me at CDG with a sign, I had no problem with that as when I get home to LAX, I have the car service pick me up and the driver also stands with a sign.
At CDG, I tried the private-CAR service that's connected to the Paris Shuttle company. Here at home in L.A., one can take a shared shuttle, a private shuttle, or the car service through the same company of which I've done all three. I've been taking these types of airport-transport services regularly for decades, both here at home and overseas, and am fine with them.
As soon as I came out of baggage claim, at CDG, the driver was right there and very obvious. And after a nearly 12-hour non-stop flight from L.A. to Paris and having been awake for nearly 30 hours total, I didn't mind paying 60 euros on that particular day although I usually take a shared shuttle.
Although I read somewhere that there's a new flat rate, for taxis at CGD, had I taken a taxi, it would have cost 55 euros, but the extra 5 euros was worth it in the situation of that day. Plus, the driver was really pleasant and cheerful and we chatted about his native Venezuela and other countries in the region. I'll go with Paris Shuttle Company again in the future, but will also try out their shared-shuttle service. I have no complaints.

For me, it would depend on arrival time and where I was coming from: being up all night from SLC via SFO would be a lot different to me than being up all night from BOS.
Our one shuttle FROM the airport was a royal pain requiring two phone calls through a dispatcher to get the van to us. The RETURN to the airport, from a difficult-to-find address, went off without a hitch. Go figure.
Taxis have been great from CDG, less so returning.
Our latest was to take the RER to Gare du Nord (no changes, no stairs) and a taxi from there to the apartment. Very easy, fairly cheap, but not fast, though that was irrelevant because we couldn't get into our apartment until 11 anyway. I think the same thing would work on the Left Bank by going to St Michel or Denfert-Rocherau.
Travel is a pain. Overnight travel is a bigger pain.

Taxi fares to Paris from CDG are now fixed at 50€ to the Right and 55€ to the Left. Taxi drivers do not expect a tip and there is no need to tip.
Taxis are generally cheaper than are shuttles. If cost is a concern, the train is 10€.

I have usually taken the Air France Bus from CDG to Gare Montparnasse and walked from there to my hotel, which used to be a fairly easy walk for me( not so much anymore, as age has caught up). The Air France Bus is great, easy to find, they load up your suitcase - and it's much cheaper than a taxi. For my upcoming trip in Oct. I'll be staying in the 7th, so I'm now trying to decide how to get to hotel.
I could take the AF Bus as before and take a taxi from Montparnasse. However, after that all night flight a taxi from the airport would save some hassle and walking around Montparnasse looking for the taxi queue.
I've also taken the RER to Gare du Nord and Luxembourg , which was fine. But the last time I did that there was a HUGE line for the RER ticket. As I'm writing this, I think I've convinced myself to just take a taxi! In the whole scheme of things those extra $ will be worth it.
I definitely don't want to bother with a shuttle service from the airport, but I've always been happy with the ones I've taken back to airport - the shared type.
