I am online booking the car rental for drop off in Florence. I would suppose it is airport but not sure which location best for less traffic. I do remember it is off the A1...Sorry to be a pest but I am down to only the car and one nights stay somewhere along the way to LaFoce. Wow - planning almost accomplished for our Italy September 2012 trip. Thank you for your help.....but don't hold me to the complete, I am sure I have forgotten something.

Where are you coming from, and what will you do after dropping the car?
The airport drop-off is probably the easiest to find, but unless you're catching a flight there you then have to bus or taxi into Florence. The other locations are within walking distance of the historical center, and Sansovino is south of the Arno which always seems a less congested area to me.
arrange pick up on a Sunday if possible and there will be very little traffic in Florence centro compared to other days - otherwise there are many pitfalls to driving inside old Florence - especially being nabbed by cameras clocking your car inside a clearly marked no entry zone - be sure you know what those signs mean - private cars cannot enter - we always have scores of Fodorites in a year post about receiving pricey tickets in the mail weeks or months later saying they violated this rule typical not only of Florence but many large Italian cities.
For drop off, use the airport.
Sorry I was late seeing this.
