Should we drive to Florence?

Jump to last reply

We were planning on taking the train from Lucca to Florence on a Monday to see Florence. But now I see that The Accademia is closed on Mondays and for our one day in Florence we do want to see Michelangelo's David.

I really don't want to take time away from our 5 days in Chianti, so we're left with the option of driving to Florence when we leave Castellina in Chianti headed for Lucca. It's really not out of the way, it's just that I hadn't planned on driving in Florence. :o

So what is the easiest way to do this. Park outside the city and train or bus in? if so, where?

It will be on a Sunday, so maybe the traffic won't be crazy?
