short layover in AMsterdam
I have a four hour layover in Amsterdam in October
I was wondering if anyone knew if you can leave the airport and go into the city without having to claim your luggage and go through customs. SOmeone told me they were not allowed to do this in Berlin on a short layover. Anyone know about Amsterdam.
I will be going from Milan to Detroit with four hours in Amsterdam.
thanks

You will most definitely have to go thru Immigration both upon exit and when you return..checked-thru luggage is no prob.
Trains to downtown leave approx every 15 minutes and the trip to Centraal Station takes about 20 minutes each way

I answered your other query about this. You do to have enough time. Security will be at the gate and the gate will close 50 minutes before departure.
As it can take 30 minutes for the plane to taxi to the terminal you do not have 4 hours. Sorry, but do not try this.
