Shopping for what? High end designers? Local basics? Local specialty items (leather goods, jewelry etc)?
Florence for leather gloves (Madova is my favourite) and shoes (Pollini) and bags.
Venice for glass jewelry (Marina and Susanna Sent if you like modern designs, also a lovely shop on Rio Terra San Leonardo with various designers.) Bottega Veneta has gorgeous bags but at 1800E for the one I liked, I had to resist.
Rome is usually good for more affordable handbags (I like Furla on Via Nazionale)
I have yet to visit Milan or Lake Como.
