That probably depends on many factors - why dont you price it out on airlines/ships websites? We dont know your dates or any of your details...

Considering that their airport has one runway which also serves as the border and has care traffic across it regularly - I would count on flying into a much larger city nearby. And why go there anyway - a big rock with a lot of nasty monkeys - and really very little to see/do.

select London ANY as the departure point and GIB as the arrival point. There are direct flights and I can almost guarantee you they'll be a lot cheaper than going by any ship.

I've never heard of anyone travelling by sea from London to Gibraltar as a final destination - it would never occur to anyone here to go any other way than by flying. You do realise how far away it is (minimum 2-3 days sailing time)? You could take a cruise ship from Southampton that stops at Gibraltar but I'm not aware of any scheduled passenger service of the kind you seem to be thinking (or indeed any demand for it).

I love the whine about cars waiting to cross a runway, don't you? Vehicles wait to cross runways at every airport so I suppose LANDING and THEN having to dodge a crossing vehicle might be a little more thrilling.

In fact, if the OP is a pilot, s/he won't be daunted in the least nor should s/he be. It's all behind gates waiting for you to land.

I'm so happy I didn't pay any attention to those who posted negatively. I went to Gibraltar and found it to be one of the most interesting places I've seen in a long time. The monkeys were everywhere. Secondly I was on a van that went directly to the top. The guide was excellent, the views tremendous and the history of the rock, the caves and the city was fascinating. I also visited a wonderful museum in the town and the town square and the shopping district.

Don't let people tell you there is nothing notable to see on Gibraltar. They are wrong. And don't worry, pilots check first to see the landing strip is free...

Um, I would hope that ATCs are the ones deciding if the runway is clear - not a pilot about to land.

And - to each his own. But given the choice between southern Spain and Andalusia - its about 10 to perhaps .5 on a 1 to 10 scale. (And there are very few places I haven't liked and wanted to go back to - this is the top of the list.)
