We have a group of 12 traveling in Puglia next October and want a couple of night stopover in Matera. I got reservations at Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita but it seems quite expensive -- for that area anyway. Has anyone stayed there? Most of the other places around are sold out already! Any other suggestions?
Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita in Matera?

I also looked at this and was wondering what you decided at the end? I had posted this on my If Only pinterest board and forgot about it until I saw a list of top things to do in Italy. It all came back. I would love to do this. Where else are you traveling to/from?

I liked the Hotel Caveoso, located right in the Sassi, and with beautiful views. Nice breakfast buffet, reasonably priced, ironed sheets, towel warmers.
