Has anyone stayed at La Taberna del Alabardero, or at Las Casas del Rey de Baeza? If so, could you, please, describe what is the level of comfort of these hotels, and how far or close they are from the Santa Cruz district?
Thanks.

I've eaten but not stayed at the Taverna del alhabardero. It's quite lovely and pictures I've seen of the guest rooms suggest that they are very nice also. It's a ways from Santa Cruz, walkable but I'd guess somewhere between 8 and 15 blocks or so.
La Taberna del Alabardero, an old palace, is quite well located in Zaragoza Street, close to Plaza Nueva and the shopping district. Its well known restaurant is considered to be one of the best in the city. Have never stayed there but it looks fine from outside. Las Casas del Rey de Baeza might be attractive because they are a restored old "casa de vecinos", these were community houses sharing some facilities, an architectural and social way of life that used to be very common during the past centuries and have almost disappeared now. This one was converted into a very nice hotel well managed. It is located in quiet area, plenty of beautiful houses and palaces but a bit far ( well, not really far, 10-15 minutes walking ) from Cathedral/Sta Cruz district.
