Serbia itinerary and ideas for activities

Jump to last reply

I'll be spending 2 weeks in Serbia in July. One week will be at a workshop learning Roma music and language in Valjevo. Then the 2nd week I am hoping to meet with some musicians, particularly one who lives in Uzice and one who lives in Vranje. I checked what bus/train schedules I could find and am thinking of the following:

1-2 days- Uzice
1 day- Studenica Monastery and possibly Stari Ras, other local sights
1-2 days Vranje
1 day Beograd (Belgrade)

I'm wondering for Uzice, Vranje, and Beograd, what are some not miss sights? Most of the music making will likely be in the evenings so I should have some day time free, especially in the am (musicians never get up early :)

If there is another place that's great for music (trubaci- brass band music) on the way I'd be up for stopping there and/or cutting out either Uzice or Vranje. Plans aren't set yet.
